Meet The Brookettes: Q&A with Willie

What neighborhood do you currently call home? Would you ever move or are you happy in your ‘hood?
I live on the sort-of Upper East Side on the block where Michael Bloomberg used to live. Before he became successful. Would I move? Do we have an office in Italy??

What’s your hands-down, absolute favorite thing to eat in NYC?
Dishes are like children and you shouldn’t play favorites…but I will.  Hands down the one single food item that calls to me like Circe sitting on a rock luring sailors to their doom is the prime rib sandwich at Eataly.  Among my circle of acquaintances, we simply call it “THE sandwich.” ‘Nuff said.

What’s your perfect night on the town?
For me, there are many perfect types of nights on the town.  It can be drinks at a bar like Milk n’ Honey followed by dinner at (fill in the blank with current obsession of the month) or a pastrami sandwich from Katz’s followed by hanging out on The Frying Pan on a sultry summer night. The common denominators?  Food and friends. But mostly food. Always food.  Must have the food.

Is it time for dinner yet?

When you need a low-key afternoon, where do you go for down time?
Absolutely The Frick. I like to walk through the fabulousness and pretend it’s my home, as though I were living the life to which I have never become accustomed. Opportunity is a fine thing.

What’s your favorite place to go on a day trip from the city?
I love going to Congers, NY with friends to go apple picking as it makes me feel all autumnal and falsely outdoorsy once a year, but really, Simon & Garfunkel were right – it’s all happening at the zoo.  The Bronx Zoo, to be exact.  It either says a lot about me or nothing at all that I could spend hours at the Congo Gorilla Forest.  It reminds me of dating in New York.

Quick-fire round:

Burrito or Burger?
Please! Burger.

Union Square Park or Central Park?
Central Park.

CitiBike or Subway?
Subway. You can’t make me get on one of those bikes. You just can’t.

Uptown or Downtown?
Downtown.

Terminal 5 or Webster Hall?
Webster Hall.

Magnolia’s or Crumbs?
Neither. I gave my heart to Todd English’s daughter Izzy. Some people get the cake right and some people get the frosting right, but nobody seems to do both right.  Except Izzy. Bless her.

Three words that describe your life in NYC?
Work. In. Progress.
