Cravings by Chrissy Teigen: This Is Chrissy Teigen’s Holy Grail Cooking Tool, Thanks to Her Mom

She uses it for almost every meal.

Chrissy Teigen is the kind of quarantine roommate we wish we were stuck with. If her Instagram feed is any indication, the Cravings cookbook author is spending a good portion of her time experimenting with food, whipping up a batch of mac and cheese balls one day and ordering ice cream cookies to review in a bathrobe (the height of glamour!) the next. Naturally, we were curious about the kitchen tools she’s relying on these days—so we asked her.

From the playful (and eco-friendly) plates her little ones love to the holy grail cooking tool she learned about from her mom, here are the five items in constant rotation in the Teigen-Legend household.

Go-To Servingware

Cast Iron Dutch Oven with Lid, Cravings by Chrissy Teigen ($40)

My favorite thing in life is to slow-cook something for family and friends all day. I’m not huge on plating individual portions, so I almost always serve family-style [in my Dutch oven]—usually straight from the stove or oven to table.

Dinnertime Time-Saver

Instant Pot, Amazon ($80)

Since we’re an Asian household—we live with my mom, who is Thai—we have a rice cooker. Mom cooks a lot of curry and meat dishes with different sauces, and rice is a must to soak them all up. You could cook it in a pot, but I’m all about making life easy these days.

Everyday MVP

Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron, Cravings by Chrissy Teigen ($70)

The piece I probably use most often is my preseasoned cast-iron essential. It truly is an everything pan: Doesn’t matter if you’re baking, frying, searing, or sautéing! I use mine to make herby scrambled eggs for self-serve breakfast goodness, or I make easy pizzas topped with fresh mozzarella and basil. Or just for homemade popcorn with butter.

Kid Favorite

Hathi Bamboo Tableware Set, Oyoy ($39)

I have to show some love to all the bamboo-ware kids’ plates. They come in different animal face shapes, with little compartments made out of the ears and nose. It makes it fun for Luna and Miles and helps them finish their food, which is a constant struggle otherwise.

Catchall Collection

Nonstick Cookware Set, Cravings by Chrissy Teigen, ($280)

If it’s not my cast iron, I’m reaching for my nonstick cookware set. I made it in four different colors to match the aesthetics of any kitchen and kept it to just the essentials. Everything is lightweight and easy to clean…because honestly, sometimes that’s just as important.
